As usual the UK weather has been keeping us on our toes with tantalising glimpses of spring sunshine, and then hailstorms and gales! However, our local green spaces are now well on track with the growing season.
Longhorn cattle return to Panshanger Park
Panshanger’s magnificent herd of English Longhorn cattle have returned to the park.
Supporting the Queen’s Green Canopy at Panshanger Park
Back in 2021, plans were put in place for Panshanger Park to be involved in the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. As part of this, we pledged to plant 17,000 trees in honour of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
With the project now completed, Michael Charlton, our mineral estates manager, discusses the different species of trees and shrubs planted and how they are enhancing biodiversity.

‘Queen’s Wood’ complete thanks to community effort
The creation of our new public woodland commemorating the life of Her Majesty has been officially completed, thanks to volunteers from local schools, residents, businesses and community groups.

Wintertime can sometimes feel like a long stretch of radio silence on the wildlife side of things. Thankfully, in the last couple of weeks the daylight is getting noticeably longer, with birds starting to rehearse their Springtime songs and investigate potential nesting sites, and snow drops peeking through the leaf litter.

As you’re walking around Panshanger Park, you may be enjoying seeing the wide variety of wildlife that calls it home. You may also be interested in the heritage of the site, seeing relics of such as the orangery and the remains of the house. What you may not have considered is the slightly more hidden aspect of the park, the rocks.
