Since 2014, the Panshanger Park Volunteering Programme has been at the heart of our mission to care for and conserve this beautiful natural space. Led by our dedicated Community Ranger, Dan Hamley, the programme welcomes individuals of all backgrounds to join a vibrant community of nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Panshanger Volunteer - What's involved
What You'll Do
Whether you're passionate about wildlife, enjoy spending time outdoors, or simply want to give something back, there’s a place for you at Panshanger. As a volunteer, you can get involved in a wide range of meaningful activities, including:
- Practical conservation tasks to help manage and improve natural habitats
- Biodiversity monitoring of butterflies, amphibians, water voles, riverflies, and more
- Supporting or leading guided walks and nature-themed tours
- Assisting with community engagement and park events
- Helping with visitor support and park warden activities
- Leading our kids group – Nature Explorers
What You'll Need
All you really need is enthusiasm and a love for nature. Other helpful qualities include:
- An interest in wildlife and conservation
- Ability to travel to Panshanger Park for volunteering sessions
- Willing to follow health, safety, safeguarding, and data protection policies

Flexible Commitment
We understand everyone’s availability is different. Whether you can spare a few hours a month or join us more regularly, your time makes a difference. Currently there are three practical tasks a month and more depending on the time of year, but don’t worry you do not have to attend them all!
