Another successful 10k at Panshanger Park

June 24, 2025

Panshanger Park once again played host to the popular Welwyn 10k, now in its third successful year at the scenic Hertfordshire location. More than 400 runners and their families turned out to enjoy the warm weather and stunning landscape, making this year’s event a standout success.

The event was officially opened by The Mayor, Councillor Lynn Chesterman OBE, and began under sunshine and blue skies – perfect running conditions. Adult runners set off at 9:30am, followed shortly by the younger participants, aged four to 14, in the 2km fun run at 9:45am.

The 10km route took runners on a picturesque single-lap off-road course, showcasing some of Panshanger Park’s most iconic features. Highlights included the 500-year-old oak tree, the newly planted Queen’s Wood, and the historic Orangery, all set alongside the serene chalk stream of the River Mimram.

Participants were cheered on by supporters, volunteers, and special guests, Tara and Mac from Tarmac, who brought their trademark enthusiasm to the finish line. Refreshments including cold drinks and ice creams added to the community spirit.

At the close of the race, trophies were awarded to the winners, and every participant received a unique, sustainable medal along with a digital finishers’ certificate.

The Welwyn 10k remains a key fixture of the annual Welwyn Festival, with all proceeds donated to local charities that provide essential services across Welwyn Garden City and the wider Hertfordshire area.

Michael Charlton, Estates Manager at Tarmac, commented: “We’re incredibly proud to see the Welwyn 10k grow into such a vibrant and inclusive event. The energy from the runners, volunteers, and supporters was inspiring, and it’s always a privilege to host the event at Panshanger Park. Events like this really show the power of community coming together for a great cause.”

Congratulations to all of the 2025 runners, we look forward to welcoming you back in 2026!
